Before you profile your monitor using Monaco, ColorVision or Gretag products, you must first remove Adobe Gamma alias from start up folder. Delete this file before using your new monitor profiling software. If you don't remove Adobe Gamma, you may experience problems creating a satisfactory profile with your new system.
This can be found in the following location:
Drive/Documents & Settings/All Users/Start Menu/Programs/Start Up/Adobe Gamma Loader (alias)
To quickly get at it, right-click on the Start button > go to Open or Open All Users > double-click PROGRAMS > double-click STARTUP. Right-click on Adobe Gamma or Adobe Gamma Loader and delete.
This does not remove the Adobe Gamma Loader program or the Adobe Gamma Control Panel and is quite safe. When you create a display profile with your choosen profiling software, a shortcut of the software will be placed in the "Startup" program group so your profile will load properly.
I have calibrated my monitor online/ with Adobe Gamma; why should I buy a sensor to do it again?
Online adjustments and Adobe Gamma are based solely on a person’s vision. The accuracy of someone’s vision can vary and be affected by outside lighting. Using a sensor, which is calibrated specifically for monitor color correction, takes the guess workout of getting the right colors onscreen and in print.
